TP-LINK Router IP Address and Username Password

TP-LINK is a widely used and extremely famous router brand responsible for manufacture and produce of a variety of routers used for various purposes ranging from any household Wi-Fi equipment to office area network. A TP-LINK router is a widely used hardware component which can be used along with a personal computer hooked on an internet connection. A router basically functions as a device that spread a a single network over a large area where each and every device functions as a part of the entire network. The TP-LINK router handles exchange of packets of data and information in between all the various devices connected wirelessly to it. Essentially a TP-LINK router can be used to convert a single network source like an Ethernet cable into a Local Area Network (LAN).

In case you are already equipped with a TP-LINK router, you can access the gateway admin login page for any configurations or a change in settings required in order to smoothen and enhance your network surfing experience. Follow the instructions given below to enter your administrative panel and have full access to control over your own network.

TP-LINK Default IP Address

You can pick the right IP Address of TP-LINK from the list below and click on Admin button. If you choose right, You will be redirected to your TP-LINK Router Login Admin Interface.

LOGIN STEPS TO TP-LINK

In order to enter your admin web page, you would first need to hook up to a mother device, locate and reach your TP-LINK router gateway page and login using the default username and password provided. Follow the steps given below and you are good to go:

  • CONNECTING A DEVICE TO THE TP-LINK ROUTER

You will need any device, be it a personal computer, a Laptop, a tablet or even a smart phone to act as the mother device connected to the TP-LINK router to enter the admin panel. This device is known as the mother device that is the first device connected via the TP-LINK router to the internet and has access to all its internal modifications.

The mother device can be connected to the router by two means, namely wirelessly or through a wired connection.

    • WIRELESS: In case of a desktop setup, after turning on the TP-LINK router, you should enter the Wi-Fi credentials to the network configuration options in the network and connectivity section. In case of a laptop, smart phone or tablet, you can just turn on the Wi-Fi option and connect to your router network. Keep in mind that it is not necessary for the TP-LINK router to have network access at this stage.
    • WIRED: In case you are using a mother device that cannot connect wirelessly, or you want to take the traditional approach of connecting through a wired connection, you can do so easily with the use of an Ethernet cable. Simply by connecting one end to the TP-LINK router and the other identical end to the device, you have successfully obtained a wired connection to your mother device. It should be kept in mind, however, that this method has a major drawback. This method cannot be used if the intended mother device does not have a Ethernet cable port.

Now that you have successfully connected your mother device, you are all set to move on to the next step.

  • ENTERING TP-LINK ADMIN LOGIN PAGE

Now that you have your mother box device successfully connected, your next step would be to enter the admin login of TP-LINK webpage.

    • To do this, first you need to enter into your preferred web browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc. You should first clear all the cache memory of the web browser as the cache can often interfere in the login procedure.
    • After you have done that, you should click on the address search bar and enter the IP Address 192.168.1.1. You can find it on the back of the TP-LINK router or on the packaging it came it. It can also be found easily with a quick web search specifying the router brand name and model number. It is usually something numerical similar to 192.168.1.1.
    • On entering the correct IP Address which are 192.168.1.1, you will enter your TP-LINK router gateway page. Here you can view a Username box and a Password waiting for you.
  • LOGGING IN WITH DEFAULT LOGIN INFORMATION

After successfully entering the admin login page, you will be asked with an SSID or username and a password. The default username and password are generally something along the lines of 'admin' 'password' 'root' or sometimes it is just left blank entirely.

In order to find out your router’s default username and password, check the backside of the TP-LINK router body, or, the packaging it came it since it is usually always present there. If you still cannot find it, try a quick web search along with the model name of your TP-LINK router. This will give you your username and password. On entering the correct SSID and password, the admin page will open up. Now you easily change or regulate all your network settings.

CHANGING PASSWORD on TP-LINK

One of the first things you should attempt after a successful log in is to change your login password. Since the default login password and username is easily and readily available to anyone with access to the TP-LINK router directly ar anyone who knows the router model and brand name, it is very easy for any foreign unwanted personnel to infiltrate into your home router network and either make changes to its settings or to arbitrarily change the password of your TP-LINK router, barring your access to your own network.

To avoid this, immediately after a successful login, you need to change the default password into something difficult to crack, including capital cases and special characters. Follow the steps given below in order to change the password to your TP-LINK router login:

  • Open the TP-LINK router setup page by entering the default username and password provided to you.
  • After successful login, go to advanced options and select administration. Select the set password option.
  • Here you will need to enter your default password. Then you will be asked to enter your new password.
  • You will have to enter your new password one more time for conformation. Press apply button after that to successfully change your login password.

Always try to remember the password you have provided. Also, do not forget to select Enable Password Recovery option, in case if you do forget it later, you can easily re-obtain it.

WHAT IS A ROUTER AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

A router is a rectangular shaped piece of network hardware with usually comes with two or more antenna like projections. Various companies like TP-LINK, TP-Link, D-Link, Asus etc. are some of the most widely known and used router brands. In its basic sense, a router essentially connects a local area network to the internet. Now a days, the transport of information across the internet usually occurs from router to router, until it finally reaches its intended destination.

A TP-LINK router acts as the centre of the network that oversees and regulates the exchange and transport of data from one system to another. Data usually travels in the form of small packets and the router determines from where a packet originates and its intended destination.

Usually, the most common places where we can see routers are residential and small office networks. The Local Area Network formed by a router that is connected wirelessly is usually known as a Wi-Fi. This has led to a common misconception of the terms Wi-Fi and router. A Wi-Fi thus refers to a common connection to the internet, but obviously, a stable network connection has to be already active for a Wi-Fi to exist. A TP-LINK router on the other hand has direct connection to the internet, usually via an Ethernet or fibre optic cable and allows other devices to connect through it to the internet, thus giving rise to a Wi-Fi network. For a basic internet package the cost lies around about 50 to 100 dollars a month. Some packages come even cheaper than that. This coupled with factors like presence of internet service providers in even the most remote locations and the high availability of cheap routers owing to online marketing has transformed router based Wi-Fi networks from a novelty feature of high end businesses and offices to a household every day necessity. This popularity and easy availability has helped spread stable internet connection to almost any corner of the world and routers have played an integral role in it.

TP-LINK produce and manufacture powerful and robust routers which are made with high end equipments to provide the user the best service at the lowest possible cost. TP-LINK Routers are known to be easily hackable and anyone can enter unnoticed if proper security measures are not followed. This is why it is always a good idea to update your pass word regularly and never leaving any firmware or antivirus update patches pending because these greatly aid in solidifying the security, privacy and authenticity of any home based network systems and protect the member devices from uninvited guests.
